General Understanding
What exactly does “conversation” mean?
A conversation is the first message in a campaign (Email or LinkedIn).
Why are only conversations started this month counted?
The metric “Monthly Conversations” tracks only new conversations initiated within the current month to reflect usage against your monthly quota.
Does this affect conversations from previous months?
No. Conversations from previous months are not affected or deducted from your current month’s quota.
Where can I see the total historical conversations (not just this month)?
You can view historical conversations in the Analytics > Engagement tab. Filter by actions Email and LinkedIn Message to see all leads who have received messages, regardless of when the conversation was started.
✉️ About Counting
When is a conversation counted?
A conversation is only counted when the first message (LinkedIn/Email) is sent. Replies or follow-ups do not count as additional conversations.
Does it count even if the message is not answered?
Yes, a conversation is counted once the first message is sent, independent of any reply.
What happens if the message fails to deliver (bounce or error)? Does it still count?
Yes, failed messages do count towards the conversation.
If I send multiple messages to the same lead via different channels (LinkedIn + Email), does it count as one or two conversations?
Each lead in a campaign counts as 1 conversation, regardless of channels. So the same lead contacted for the first time from 2 campaigns within the same month count as 2 conversations for the limit.
What if I message the same lead again next month? Does it count as a new conversation?
No. A lead only counts as one conversation, regardless of when you send follow-up messages in future months. Only the very first initial message consumes a conversation.
Do paused or deleted conversations affect the count?
No, once a conversation has been started, it is counted. Pausing or deleting does not reduce the count.
If I duplicate a campaign with the same leads, are the conversations counted again?
Yes, if the first message is sent again to the same lead in a new campaign, it counts as a new conversation.
📊 About the Metric in the UI
What happens when I reach the limit?
When you reach the limit, you cannot start additional conversations until the next month or until you purchase more.
Does the limit automatically reset each month?
Yes, the available conversations reset at the start of each month based on your plan.
Does “conversations left” include ongoing conversations or only new ones?
It only counts new conversations started this month. Ongoing conversations that began in previous months are not included.
Why doesn’t the “conversations left” number match the number of contacts in my campaigns?
Because it only counts first messages actually sent this month. Drafts or scheduled messages for the future do not reduce the count.
⚙️ Relation to Campaigns and Identities
Does each campaign consume conversations separately?
No. All campaigns share the team’s total monthly conversation quota
Can I distribute my available conversations across different campaigns?
Yes, you can allocate your leads across campaigns, but each lead’s first message consumes one conversation regardless of the campaign.
Are conversations shared across identities (e.g., multiple LinkedIn profiles or emails)?
Yes. All identities share the team’s total conversation quota, so sending a first message from any identity draws from the same pool.
Can I see how many conversations each identity or campaign uses?
TBD
⚠️ About Limits
What happens if I exceed my monthly conversation limit?
You cannot send additional first messages to new contacts that month unless you purchase extra conversations.
Are messages blocked or are campaigns paused?
First messages beyond the limit will not be sent. Campaigns may continue sending follow-ups to leads already contacted.
Can I purchase more conversations?
Yes, extra conversations can usually be purchased according to your plan or via add-ons.
Do unused conversations roll over to the next month?
No, unused conversations reset each month and do not carry over.
🕓 About Timing
Does it count as a conversation if the first message is scheduled this month but sent next month?
It is counted in the month it is actually sent, not when it was scheduled.
What about conversations that started last month but are still active now?
They are not counted in the current month’s quota. Only new conversations started this month are counted.
Does the “Analytics > Performance” metric use the same timing rules?
Yes. In Analytics, contacted leads also count the first message, so it should have the same value as other metrics.
